The Ultimate Local SEO Guide for Tradesmen
By WebGuySteve • 2 min read
Tired of paying lead services for leads that get sold to several other contractors at the same time? The alternative is getting found on your own, through local search.
What is local SEO?
Local SEO means showing up when someone nearby searches for what you do, like “electrician near me” or “roof repair Lawrenceville.” It mostly comes down to three things.
1. Your Google Business Profile
This is the big one for trades. Fill it out completely: correct categories, service area, hours, real photos of your work. Then ask every happy customer for a review. A simple review link or QR card makes it easy.
2. Consistent business info
Your business name, phone number and address (or service area) should match everywhere they appear online: Google, Yelp, BBB, Facebook, Nextdoor. Mismatches confuse customers and search engines.
3. A clear website
Your website backs up your Google listing. It should say what you do, where you work, and how to call you, and it should work well on a phone. A page for each main service helps people (and Google) find the exact thing they searched for.
And answer the phone
All of this gets your phone ringing. If you miss the call, the customer calls someone else. Missed-call text-back keeps those leads from slipping away.
